Netflix has produced some pretty decent shows. However, there are a good chunk of shows and movies that they have produced that are complete and utter horseshit to say the least. I haven't seen a Netlfix original show in a long time. Whether it's due to my lack of interest in most of their shows or just plain disliking them, I just don't watch them.
Keep in mind that a TV series and movie based on the Witcher novels have already been well over 10 years ago. Both were just terrible.
However, this project is involving the author of the original novels, so there is hope that the show will stick true to its root with the help of a bigger budget with Netflix producing it. The length of the series is also questionable because seeing how The Witcher is this show could go on for a while.
There is an audience for this show. The Witcher has a pretty big fanbase thanks to The Witcher 3, so a lot of people who have either read the book or played the game will be more than willing to watch this series. Hell, people who are into fantasy in general are going to watch this.
If the casting is right and the writers are staying true to the source material, I have no doubt that this series will be successful.
Going back to the length, I do hope that this show does not have to go on longer than it has to. Even though no other detail were revealed, there is going to be at least one season if things go well. I feel like there should just be one major problem that should keep the show going for a limited amount of time. There is no need to put this show in a Dexter situation.
To make a long story short, a Witcher TV series can work if put in the right hands. Seriously, if they fuck up the plot and most importantly cast the wrong actor to portray Geralt then there is no way in hell this series is going to last more than a season.
Till Next Time!!
