Guillemot: "That's what we learned from the Watch Dogs experience – if it can't be played on the target machine, it can be a risk"

Hey Guys, two days in a row with two posts in one day! I guess you can say that I'm on a roll. Anyways, back to the article. A recent article came up from The Guardian about an interview they had with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. You can check out the full article right here

In case you didn't know or were living under a rock, Watch Dogs was a highly anticipated game back in 2014 and is infamous for its disappointing performance despite successful sales. Seriously, this has to be the 2nd most advertised game back in 2014 just slightly under Destiny. However, the biggest reason why the game was such a big disappointment to a lot of people was the graphics downgrade.

In the article, Guillemot even admitted that the company raised expectations for Watch Dogs way too high. He even addressed the issue that the game was not playable during the E3 conference. Because of the backlash that Watch Dogs had due to the graphics downgrade, Ubisoft has changed its policy on showing its games. Now, Ubisoft will be allowing people to play their games at conventions which gives them an idea of what the game will be like.

This is both a good and bad thing. Since I'm always negative, I will start with the bad. First off, Ubisoft knew that they messed up! They knew about the graphical downgrade! Most importantly they knew about the many bugs that the game had! Who is to say that other companies don't do the same? Just recently Rocksteady admitted that the developers for the PC port of Arkham Knight were fully aware of the bugs and frame rate cap. 2014 was a disappointing year for gaming and this only signifies that people are unaware of the fact that game companies know about the faults of their games, yet they decide to fix them after they release!

Despite all the bad, this is still a good thing because Ubisoft is at least doing something to gain its trust back by making sure they don't make the same mistake they made with Watch Dogs. Most companies should be able to do this. More Betas should be released as a way for people to submit feedback in order to improve their games. However, a lot of these companies don't take these feedbacks into consideration. Just look at EA with what they did with Battlefield 4.

Seriously, something has to be done in order to stop releasing games that either don't live up to the hype or release completely broken.

The Walking Dead Season 2: No Going Back RANT!!

Hey Guys, I feel that this rant was long overdo, but something has to be said about it. If you have not played the Walking Dead Season 2, then let me warn you that there will be heavy spoilers in just a few moments and I recommend you don't. For those of you who have already played it or just don't care, then let me get started.
No seriously, turn back if you have not played the game
Of course this may sound biased, but I will back up my opinions with facts. The episode itself was amazing. This by far has to be the most emotional episode of The Walking Dead since the season finale of Season 1.

What I'm really mad about is the decision between Jane and Kenny. I will be the first one to say that I didn't shoot Kenny. But Eddie, he's out of control and puts everyone at risk! Oh really? Fools! Kenny was like this since Season 1, but not to the same extent as in Season 2. Think about it, he has been through so much pain to the point where it's enough to break any man, but he hasn't completely lost it.

He is out of control! He hit Clementine, so he must die for this! I don't know why people use this excuse as well. He didn't mean to hit Clementine. As a matter of fact, I was on Kenny's side for 100% of the time. I let him beat on Arvo because it really was his fault that his group attacked Clementine's group. There's even more of a reason to want Arvo dead if players chose not to steal from him. I don't care what other people, but there is no reason to even defend Arvo for what he has done!

He is the same old Kenny! Kenny has always been the same stubborn and loyal person. If you sided with Kenny in Season 1, he is loyal to Lee and the two become best friends. I would get why you wouldn't side with Kenny 100%, but he was usually right about his actions. Don't even get me started on the meat locker incident with Larry. That guy was dead and had to die since he would only put the group in danger.

This also just makes me sick,
This was taken on July 6th, 2015
This is a screenshot I took from the Walking Dead Wiki of the stats for this episode. I remember when over 70% of players shot Kenny, but it seems that people have finally smarted up and chose not to shoot him. Trust me, I can go all day about why Kenny is the best bet to be around.

Jane has already proven herself to be untrustworthy. Kenny was right about her! He actually has a sense of the people who should or shouldn't be trusted. If she ran off once, she'll just do it again. Additionally, she didn't even want to save Sarah when she was pinned under the planks of wood.

I just find it hypocritical that people were making comments like, "If Kenny dies, we riot!". Now that players have the choice to haul him off people apparently have no problem shooting him. I will always be on Kenny's side no matter what. The best ending has to be leaving Wellington with Kenny and AJ.

What's up with this Microsoft.....!?

Hey Guys, it has been probably a year since I first posted a rant about the Games with Gold program when it was about to debut. Well, it's been a long time since I made any mention of this program. It's been full of both disappointments and surprises. However, I finally got my kayak flipped over when this happened....

What I'm most ticked off about is Assassin's Creed IV and Gears of War 3. I personally have both games. Gears of War 3 is a game that a majority of Xbox owners should have as well as Assassin's Creed IV. As a matter of fact, wasn't Assassin's Creed IV free back in April back on the Xbox 360? Why couldn't Microsoft do some kind digital upgrade for owners of Xbox One to get the Xbox One version of Assassin's Creed IV? I'm pretty sure Ubisoft would have to give the okay, but either way it still how shows how cheap these companies are!

Assassin's Creed IV and Assassin's Creed:Unity are bundled with the Xbox One! This is a bundle that most people probably got when they first purchased an Xbox One. I would at least be cool if Assassin's Creed IV at least came with free DLC as a kind of compensation for people who already have the game.

The same goes for Gears of War 3! That game came out back in 2011. As of July 5th 2015, you can purchase this game at GameStop for $4.99.  If you're like me, I would go out and buy it just to have the physical version. I personally don't like having digital copies of games because I grew up on having physical games and I won't grow out of it. Couldn't they put the season pass for free at least? The game is 4 years old after all and even Titianfall's season pass is free.

However, both are excellent games! It's great for people who have never played either, but think about the greater number of people who have. Plants vs. Zombies is a game that most people played; I never played it myself because I'm not a big fan of it, but I hear nothing but good things about it. I never heard of So Many Me, and I'm not even going to give it a shot.

Don't get me wrong, things are looking good for the Games with Gold program, but they really need to put up games that most people haven't already played!

Why I'm tired of Destiny

Hey Guys, I'm not so sure if I have ever mentioned Destiny on this blog. I might have, but I never really went into detail about it. There is a reason why I don't. I find that most gaming outlets try to find anything to talk about this game because of the controversy behind the game. Hilariously, I'm going to do the thing that I hate. I got the game a long time ago, but it's also been a long time since I even picked it up.

Destiny is the pinnacle of a love/hate thing. Literally, it's either you hate this game due to it being
underwhelming or you love this game because it's just an enjoyable cooperative experience. I'm going to try to remain as neutral as possible towards my thoughts on the actual game because there is a lot of Destiny fanboys who are quick to try to defend the game. However, I will only present the facts.

Destiny has not had a huge update since the House of Wolves DLC was released. The Iron Banner tournaments don't count either because all lower leveled players pretty much can't participate due to them not having powerful enough weapons to take down level 30s and above. I'm sorry that most people have other important priorities over video games and just don't have the time to invest into the game.

In reality, most people will just be discouraged to invest the time into Destiny because of the flawed random drop system. This is something that I can rant about all day, but that's for another day. Seriously, if someone is doing all the work then they deserve the better loot. That's just plain unfair and of course anyone will just quit the game because of it.

This game is just mean for you to play with friends. No one is using mics in these games. The time that I had been playing Destiny had been full of silent players. Most of my friends were playing other games and not one of them was in the mood to play Destiny or just didn't have the game. However, the multiplayer is very well done, but it's meant for you to play with friends.

Even when playing with friends, there is no denying that the Strike missions are just unbelievably both boring and frustrating. Both the story and strike missions are essentially horde mode, but strike missions are just harder versions of horde mode.

Please don't even get me started on this,
No, I am not getting into the Controversy behind this DLC
No amount of DLC will fix the disappointment that this game has delivered in the past. Most of the content that they did add into the game should have been available on day one! The season pass essentially symbolized that players only paid $60 for only part of the game. The DLC really killed the game for most people. I don't even know if I will ever go back into Destiny, but I love to just see it collecting dust on my shelf.

If you enjoy playing Destiny, then oh well that's your opinion. However, there is just things in the game that there is no way that you can defend.

Metro Redux Review

Hey Guys, Happy 4th of July to my American viewers! I am literally going to be out all day today, so I wrote this at around 12 in the morning to have at least something posted up on the blog. I'm trying to have at least one post a day. Anyways, it's been a while since I reviewed any games and I felt I need to be doing more. Additionally, I feel that I should review older games that I never got around to writing about, but that's a maybe. Out of any game I could have reviewed, why did I choose Metro Redux? Well, it's actually on sale right now and I'm going to tell you if the game is good or not.

Since the game contains both Metro: 2033 and Metro: Last Light, I am going to attempt to review the game as one, but I will admit that Last Light proves to be the superior game in this bundle.
Story: 9 out of 10
The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic Moscow after a nuclear war took place and Russia was hit with these atomic bombs. This led the survivors to flee into the underground Metro Stations in order to survive. Metro: 2033 takes place 20 years after the war and Last Light takes place one year after 2033.  You play as a young man named Artyom, who happens to live in the Metro Station Exhibition, and are on a mission to present dog tags to another Station to request help from the Rangers who are the highly trained soldiers in the Metro to help Exhibition with their creature problems. I really can't go into detail for the story of both games because I would be spoiling them. However, this game does a great job in making it feel so dark and depressing.

Gameplay: 9 out of 10
Both of these games play a lot similar to each other. There are two ways to play the game which are Ranger and Spartan. Ranger mode is basically the way Metro was meant to be played by adding survival horror elements that include limited ammo and air filters. Spartan mode makes the game feel a bit more like Call of Duty by making both ammo and air filters easier to find. If you already haven't figured it out, you will need to have air filters for the gas masks. Each air filter has a certain amount of time before you have to change them. If you run out of air filters or your gas mask breaks, then you will suffocate to death. I would highly recommend playing both of these games on hard because it gives a great challenge as well as providing a sense of fear into the player that they could easily die if they aren't careful. Trust me, hard mode will have you frantically reloading if you are surrounded by a crowd of enemies. There is also this karma system in both games, but the neither game really go into much detail to the excitement of such a system. Yes, both games have two endings based on this karma system. However, that's a good thing because it adds replay value to the game and it already comes with all the DLC.

Graphics: 10 out of 10
The visuals of the game have to be one of the best looking on a console. Literally, players will experience PC level graphics on both Xbox One and PS4. The Metro itself looks filthy, awful, and depressing in a good way. The character models themselves look pretty good as well, but they are also reused if you explore the Metro for a bit. However, it's the surface that is truly breathtaking. The visuals just enhance this feeling of agony for any living thing that had to go through the bomb. Additionally, the game runs at a smooth 60fps.

VGT Score: 9 out of 10
This has to be one of the best post-apocalyptic games on the market. If you need something to hold you off until Fallout 4 releases or if you just love the genre, then this game is a must-own. Since you can get if for dirt cheap, there is just no reason why you shouldn't pick it up. For $20 this is pretty much a steal. However, this game is not for everybody as some people may find it offensive due to the objectifying of women in the game. Other than that, it's just a great game and I can't recommend it enough.

My Thoughts on Fallout 4

Hey Guys, once again it's been a while since I posted anything. Additionally, it's been a while since E3 passed, so I actually find this as the perfect time to talk about each game that I find particular interesting to talk about. Today, I'm going to be giving you guys my thoughts on Fallout 4.
I'm actually most excited for the return of the Power Armor

What can I say about this game that hasn't already been said? We all know that this game is going to be good. Over the past 2 weeks or so more details have been released about the game including the new crafting system and the ability to actually create and manage towns.

I actually like the idea of building a mini-city. In addition, players will be able to gather survivors as well and even make homes for them. The same thing applies to the players themselves and their companions. This is a neat feature that is similar to State of Decay except you can actually build from the ground up.

How can I also forget Dogmeat? Face it, most of us will be taking Dogmeat as our loyal companion throughtout the game and the better news is that Dogmeat can't die. This just furthers my interest in just having Dogmeat as my companion since he can't die.

The #1 thing that I am most looking forward to is Mod support on Xbox One. This is the smartest thing that Bethesda has ever done. I don't play PC, but I am fully aware of how Mods actually make a game a hundred times better and actually increases its life span. Left 4 Dead 2 was made back in 2009, but remains as one of the most popular games on PC because of its mod use. However, Mod support won't be available on day one. It'll probably be a couple of months before it's actually available. Bethesda is currently trying to make a deal with Sony to allow Mod support on the PS4 version of the game, so it'll take longer for PlayStation user to experience Mod support.

Despite all these cool gameplay elements that have been announced, I really hope that the Hardcore Mode difficulty setting from New Vegas returns because it delivered a more realistic, challenging experience. I find it to be the way Fallout was meant to be played. Although, Hardcore Mode really wasn't difficult in New Vegas, but I wouldn't say it was easy either.

Now let me talk about this...
It's been a long time since I have seen any pre-order bonus to a game actually sell out. Literally, this Pip-Boy Edition for Fallout 4 sold like Hot Cakes. When they first announced this, I thought it was pretty cool. I'm only talking about the Pip-Boy itself not really on how it functions. This thing is pretty much a phone case with buttons, but it's still a cool looking replica of the Pip-Boy. As of today, it's nearly impossible to find this anywhere else besides eBay, but they sell at ridiculous amounts of money. Honestly, I would have bought it just to have it on a shelf rather than actually using it for the game. $120? Not bad for both the Pip-Boy and the game.

As soon as this game was announced, I simply said, "Shut up and take my money!". Yes, I do have the game on pre-order as well as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I already know these games are going to be good, so I actually don't mind pre-ordering these games despite the fact that I'm against pre-ordering games.

One final note, those who pre-order Fallout 4 digitally on Xbox One will be entitles to receive a download code for Fallout 3 on Xbox 360. It's a cool offer, but you can get the physical game with all the DLC with the GOTY Edition of Fallout 3 dirt cheap. Furthermore, most people already have Fallout 3! There currently isn't any word on the PlayStation 4 version of the offer.

If there is a season pass available for this game, it would be a worthwhile investment to this reread content-fueled game. Fallout 4 will release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 10, 2015.

Innovation at its all time low

Hey Guys, it's been a while since I posted up anything. Like I said before, I'm such a lazy person who just doesn't have that much time on his hands. Anyways, that's besides the point. Innovation is something that I actually wanted to talk about for a while and why there is just a lack of it.
Yeah, this is happening...
With the recent announcement of Black Ops 3 and its upcoming world reveal trailer tomorrow, I'm starting to slowly lose faith in the gaming industry. As a matter of fact, I lost a lot of faith in the gaming industry since the disappointing year of 2014 and 2015 isn't so far off. I'm not going to lie, there are plenty of games this year that actually look good, but there are only a few of them that are new IPs.

Seriously, we need something fresh that doesn't have a numerical value right next to its title. It's understandable if the game truly deserves a sequel, but most of the time one game is enough for one year. The truth is, none of us really know what we want because every time there is an innovative game that does release no one will pay any attention to it and it will have a cult following 3 years later or so.

With that being said, I really can't be skeptical about Black Ops 3. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt because Advanced Warfare was actually an improvement but not better. Please, we need something new.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review

Hey Guys, it's better late than never to submit a review because of how lazy of a person I am. However, I finally have a chance to review Advanced Warfare. I'm going to let you know this review is based on both the Xbox 360 version of the game and the Xbox One version of the game.
This is one of the best looking games of the year
Story: 5
The story is mediocre at best with Kevin Spacey the single thing that actually keeps the campaign somewhat strong. It seem that as the years go by, the campaign for each entry in the Call of Duty franchise gets worse. However, the story is slightly better than COD: Ghosts, yet both stories are still painfully cliche. I'm willing to bet that most players can take a wild guess as to what will happen to the story and they will be correct.

I usually play Call of Duty for the campaign, so I'm in the minority of people who actually care. This game would be a whole lot worse if the campaign was supposed to be the main focus of the game. However, the major complaint I have about the campaign is that the cutscenes can't be skipped. It's as if Sledgehammer was delusional enough to believe that the story was good or if they wanted to show off what the graphics engine was capable of.

Graphics: 10 (Xbox One, PS4, PC), 9(Xbox 360)
I'm not one for graphics, but I still refuse to believe that this is a video game. The graphics are just absolutely gorgeous and run at a smooth 60 FPS. However, the graphics are downgraded on last-gen consoles, but they still look good. However, the PS3 version of the game has to be the ugliest version of the game. There really is not much to say about the graphics since they are just flawless-at least on next-gen consoles and PC.

Multiplayer/Gameplay: 7
This is the one component that most people still buy Call of Duty for, but the multiplayer is still rather lackluster. Teamwork is literally not encouraged as most people would just be jumping around the map with the Exo Suit. Just expect to die about every 30 seconds because there is a high chance that you're going to end up bumping into someone who is spamming with the Exo Suit.

The Exo Suit is a pretty big disappointment. However, it at least show that the franchise is trying to be "innovative". I'm using "innovative" loosely because the gameplay is way too similar to Titanfall except that there is no wall-running. Additionally, the health system is still the same as I thought the Exo Suit would provide extra protection, but I guess not. There is a playlist available in the multiplayer portion that removes the Exo Suit ability which I highly recommend if you just can't dying every 30 seconds.

I'm not that much of the Exo Survival mode as it's just a generic horde mode with challenging enemies. Zombies isn't coming out until the Havoc DLC comes which will more than likely make the game better.

VGT SCORE: 8 OUT OF 10
There really isn't too special about this game. Don't listen to the critics who gave this game a 9 or 10 because that's just completely dishonest. This game does not deserve a 9 or 10, but that doesn't mean Advance Warfare is a bad game. It's a good game, but not as great as critics are saying it is. The graphics have to be the highlight of the game because I have never seen such a beautiful game in a while. I personally know people who got the game just for the graphics, but they enjoyed their time with the game. Overall, wait for a price drop because this game is not worth the $60 price tag.
I'll be making more reviews in the near future. Be sure to check back to see my Destiny, Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed Unity, and Grand Theft Auto V (Next-Gen) review.

Last-Gen Games Upgrade to Next-Gen RANT!!

Hey Guys, I'm not in a great mood right now, so it's an appropriate time to start my ranting on a topic that I'm pretty sure you guys are mad about as well. With the release of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, video game developers have new releases of games for both last-gen and next-gen games. We have already seen remastered versions of games in the past get re-released such as The Last of Us and the upcoming Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition.

Think this is a good deal? Wait until you hear (or read) the catch...
The advertisement is not lying. You can actually upgrade your last-gen version of Advanced Warfare to next-gen for free. However, it only applies if you get the game digitally. I don't know about you guys, but I hate getting digital games. I'm one of those people that literally need physical copies of the game because it's been that way for around 30 years since videos games have been around. Furthermore, it takes up way too much space on a hard drive to get a digital version of a game. Sure it may sound like a steal, but I'd rather trade in my physical copy of my game for the next-gen version and get it for maybe $10.

I'm not judging you guys if you buy games digitally, but think about the downsides of downloading a game especially when it comes to storage issues. Advanced Warfare is not the only game to do something like this; Destiny did the same thing before it released. I believe that it's still going on, but I'm not 100% sure.

Here is also my main problem as well. If video game companies see the rise in popularity with this kind of deal, they are all going to want to do the same thing. That means that people who want physical copies of their game are going to have to shell out the money to pay full-price to buy the same game for a different version of it. I don't want to have to do that. Video games are already expensive enough, so cut us some slack since there are people who have not made the switch to next-gen consoles yet.

I made my point, so that's it for me today.
Till Next Time!!

Video Breakdown: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer

It has been a long 4 months since I posted anything. I have missed out on a ton of new releases and have no been able to review them by the time they came out. I failed to provide reviews for Titanfall, Destiny, The Evil Within, and so forth. I literally am a very busy person, so I apologize to everyone who reads on this blog on a daily basis.

Anyways, I decided to do a video breakdown on the new trailer for Advanced Warfare that recently went somewhat viral yesterday. Before you guys say anything, yes I do have the game under pre-order for who knows how long ago. However, I'm only doing it for review purposes. The last time I played Call of Duty: Ghosts was about a month or two ago and that was only to troll people.

I digress. The trailer looks beautiful. When I say beautiful, I only mean the visuals not so much of the gameplay aspect. Look at that thumbnail; I thought that was a real person when I first saw it! What are the first two things that come into your mind when you first watched the trailer?
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II?
  • Titanfall?
How about a combination of two? It's obvious that the campaign will be another cliche action story with no real purpose behind it. When the very first trailer came out, the game looked exactly like Black Ops II. Wall-running and jetpack jumps. Where have I seen those before? Please, don't make me say the title because I'm pretty you know which game I'm talking about.

I'm not saying don't buy the game, but be wary that Advanced Warfare may not be as innovating as most first person shooters these days. Hopefully, I'll have the review up by the time the game releases. If not, I'll have the review up by November 5th.

It's great to be back, and I hope the spammers aren't back because that's the main reason why I don't feel motivated enough to keep writing. Anyways, it's great to be back!
Till Next Time!!
