True Crime: Hong Kong is Alive
Square Enix picks up project rights.
August 1, 2011Square Enix has obtained the rights to True Crime: Hong Kong, a project that was canceled by Activision earlier this year, according to a new report by Gamasutra.
The game is still in development by United Front Games and is being managed through Square Enix London Studios. Square Enix did not acquire the rights to the True Crime IP, so the game will be re-branded with a new title.
Originally scheduled for release on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, Square Enix said it is not commenting on when the project will release and for what platforms.
Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said in a statement: "Our team has worked very hard to find a solution where everybody wins. Square Enix gets the benefit of the tremendous investment we've made in the game thus far.
UFG gets to stay together and complete their vision. And gamers get to play a great game. We couldn't be more thrilled."
I can't believe they brought True Crime back from the grave! This is a must own VGT readers, it's finally coming back! Let this be a happy day, we shall all thank Square Enix for making this possible!
Till Next Time!!
